FAQ

Is it legal to point a camera at my street?
Yes, from your own property. Showing drivers their speed is a long-established private practice (HOAs have used speed feedback signs for decades), and recording video of a public street from your own yard is the same thing millions of video doorbells already do. WayFrame is designed to sit inside your property line, uses amber light only, and can't be mistaken for an official traffic sign, which is exactly what state codes ask of private signage.
Does it record my neighbors?
During setup you draw what WayFrame can see: your yard and the public street, nothing else. It records short event clips, has no microphone, and stores footage on the device, synced to your phone. Nothing streams to a cloud you don't control, and the face shows RECORDING whenever the camera is live.
What about my HOA?
Dormant, WayFrame is a personalized address plaque, a category most covenants treat very differently from signage. It only displays messages during an active session. That said, covenants vary; check yours, and the fact that it's the nicest-looking address marker on the street tends to help.
Does it need wiring? What about winter and night?
No wiring. Solar keeps it net-positive through the play season with a 10+ day battery reserve, and USB-C tops it up in a dark stretch. At night the amber halo carries the alert. E-paper behavior in extreme cold is being finalized in testing; the halo and chirp are unaffected.
Will this keep my kids safe?
WayFrame is a visibility and awareness aid. It gives drivers a reason to slow down and gives the yard a heads-up that a car is coming. It is not a safety device, it cannot prevent accidents, and it is never a substitute for adult supervision. We'd rather say that plainly than sell you certainty no product can offer.
How does the $49 reservation work?
When reservations open, $49 holds your place in the founders batch and comes off the final price. It's fully refundable any time before your unit ships, for any reason, no questions asked. Waitlist members get the first window.
